Climbing K2: The Latest Updates and Records

The recent climb up K2 by Nirmal Purja, Carla Perez, and their team has sent shockwaves through the mountaineering community. Just over three months ago, Purja had climbed his first 8000er, and now he has conquered ten of them with the use of supplementary oxygen.

According to initial reports, it appears that the recent jet stream swept away the dangerous snow around the Bottleneck, allowing ropes to be fixed all the way to the summit. This made the climb much safer for Purja's team, which included Lakpadendi Sherpa, Gesman Tamang, Changba Sherpa, and Lakpa Temba Sherpa.

The group rapidly reached Camp 4 at 7950m before making their summit bid yesterday at 22:20. They successfully reached the top of K2 at 7:50 am this morning, with Purja using supplementary oxygen to aid his climb.

Purja's achievement is even more remarkable given that he is attempting to climb all 14 eight-thousanders in just seven months. This feat is unprecedented and highlights his exceptional mountaineering skills.

Carla Perez, on the other hand, has a successful career as a singer and has managed to climb K2 without using supplementary oxygen alongside Adrian Ballinger and their support group. While her income source is primarily from her singing career, her net worth has been growing significantly in recent years.
